I am currently working on my first fantasy series. When I was young, in the 1980s, I played Dungeons and Dragons and read every fantasy novel I could save enough lunch money to buy when I got a chance to hit the bookstore. Like just about everyone else on the planet, I loved Game of Thrones on HBO, and it helped reignite my love for the genre. But I don't want to read 1,000 page books, much less commit to a series of them. So I'm writing the kind of fantasy books I want to read - no super long descriptions of every character's lineage or page after page describing the queen's dress. Stories that can be read as stand-alone books. So I wrote Border Keep, and it's 99% done. But, like any good fantasy book, it did beg for a sequel - and I have finished the first draft of Keepers of the Purple Flame to follow it. They are stand-alone stories, as promised, though they kind of need to be read in order if you were to read them both. They will be released together, or close to each other so there's no super long wait in between them. There will likely be a third, which has been outlined, tentatively titled To Keep The Land. More to come on this ... and soon.
